International Festival of Children’s Theaters  was founded in 1994, on the occasion of  the Subotica Children’s Theater  60th anniversary. The idea of launching such a festival was initiated by Slobodan Marković, the director of the Theater at the time. The Festival takes place every year in May, when the whole city transforms into a big stage. From its establishment until today, over 400 performances  from all corners of the world, Europe and its homeland Serbia, were performed at the Festival. Approximately 250 of these were shown within the competative part of the programme.
