Džamija je u Subotici svečano otvorena 24. avgusta 2008. Ova Muhadžir džamija je prvi islamski objekat izgrađen nakon više od 2 veka na magistralnom putu od Sofije do Budimpešte. Glavni muftija Islamske zajednice u Srbiji, Muamer Zukurlić, smatra da je otvaranje subotičke džamije istorijski trenutak i znak tolerancije i razumevanja gradskih vlasti za pripadnike svih verskih skupina.
